Objective Hearing Screening via Auditory-Evoked Pupillary Responses (AEPR): Research Software
Zenodo ¡ 2026
A Python research workflow for auditory-evoked pupillary responses, combining signal preprocessing, temporal modelling, and computer-vision-based pupil extraction.
Research project
Overview
AEPR explores pupil responses to auditory stimulation as a research signal relevant to hearing-screening methods. The public software release provides tools for processing recordings, comparing predictive models, and visualizing pupil responses.
Research question
What information about auditory stimulation can be recovered from pupil time series, and how can signal-processing and computer-vision workflows support reproducible analysis?
Methods
Signal preprocessing includes blink handling, baseline normalization, and quality auditing. The codebase includes feature extraction, classical baselines, temporal deep-learning models, robustness and cross-dataset analysis tools, and computer-vision pupil extraction.
Data & evaluation setup
The project uses APURE and PsPM-AOB. Consult their original dataset records and the repository documentation for provenance, access, and licensing. The software DOI identifies the code release rather than either dataset.
Limitations
This entry describes research software, not a validated clinical screening device. Historical performance estimates are not presented here because cohort provenance and evaluation require reconciliation. The software DOI is not a manuscript DOI and does not imply peer review or journal acceptance.
Collaborators & acknowledgements
